When driving into Tel Aviv for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised. It was not at all what I expected, after having been in Haifa for the previous few days. Don’t get me wrong, Haifa is a stunning city, but Tel Aviv is so modern and that surprised me (in a good way). There were plenty of beaches, even accessible ones, and beautiful sights. I hoped that our hotel would be just as nice as the surroundings of Tel Aviv that I was admiring. As we pulled up to the InterContinental David Hotel, I could immediately tell that it was.
This hotel overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and has one of the best locations in Tel Aviv. If you can’t find something to entertain you at the hotel (which is easy to do), then the best attractions of Tel Aviv are just a short stroll away, including the Carmel Market and the southern beach promenade. If you’d like to venture a bit further to other attractions and restaurants in the city, they are all just a short drive away. The location of the hotel was ideal for my stay. I always love when a hotel is centrally located, because then I can spend more time enjoying the nearby attractions and less time trying to figure out how to get to them.
So the surroundings of the hotel are perfect, but what about inside the Intercontinental David Hotel in Tel Aviv? From the moment that I entered the lobby, I was impressed. The friendly staff greeted me and check-in was a breeze. They then showed us to our wheelchair accessible room, located on the eleventh floor.
The room had two beds, both of which were a good height to transfer into, a flat-screen TV, a desk, and a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea. While this room was a bit smaller than I would have preferred, with a little rearranging I was able to freely move about.
The bathroom was brilliantly accessible. It had a roll-in shower, grab bars around the toilet, and there was even a telephone by the toilet in case of an emergency. This was one of the best accessible hotel bathrooms I’ve seen.
Another highlight of the InterContinental David Hotel was the pool. It is a huge outdoor pool area, and there is a poolside bar (that’s always a plus!). If you are a wheelchair user and would like to get in the water, just ask one of the staff members to bring out the portable pool lift. I didn’t actually see this lift during my stay, but I was told that they do have one and can bring it out upon request.
The location, accessibility of the room, and pool are fantastic, but perhaps the best thing about the InterContinental David was its food. All stays come with a continental breakfast buffet on the third level of the hotel at Jaffa Court and it has enough food choices to keep you full for a whole day of exploring the city. Everything from yogurt and pastries to pancakes and salads are available. We chose to dine at one of the outdoor tables every morning after getting our plates packed with food, and it was very nice.
If you are looking for more food choices for lunch or dinner, you can also grab a bite to eat at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Aubergine, or at the Atrium Lobby Bar. I had some hummus with pita bread at the Atrium Lobby Bar and it was the best hummus that I had during my entire time in Israel. And the pita bread was so fresh! We also had french fries with garlic aioli sauce and they were a great snack. Needless to say, there are plenty of exceptional food choices at the hotel and you won’t go hungry.
The Intercontinental David Hotel is one of the most luxurious hotels in Tel Aviv. Not only is it wheelchair friendly, it also has a perfect location and something to offer all guests. If you are looking for an ideal place to stay while in this bustling city, look no further.

Looks like a place where I will feel safe and taken care of in Tel Aviv!
The InterContinental David Hotel looks really impressive. I too look for centrally located hotels on my stays – like you, I like to be close to numerous attractions. The pool looks great too – and waking up to that view… well, that’s priceless.

I’m an IHG loyalty member and it’s great to see such a good review of the Intercontinental David. I like to get the most value for my points. 😉 The views from your room look great and that hummus and pita have me craving some on point Middle Eastern food!

Yum! That hummus does look delicious! So nice that it is centrally located and close to the Carmel Market–would be fun to do some exploring there. Looks like a great hotel–I love the design! Glad you enjoyed your stay!
I’ve stayed in several Intercontinental hotels around the world and appreciate the brand. It’s always high standards and I know what to expect. If I ever do make it to Tel Aviv, I’ll certainly consider it as an option.
